Low-level Laser Light Therapy (LLLT)

When the continued use of Propecia and/or Rogaine will not provide the growth of hair that one had hoped for, there are newer treatments, such as low-level light therapy provided by a laser, which may also be beneficial. While not a substitute for hair transplant surgery, LLLT, delivered as a series of in-office treatments (although there are less powerful hand-held laser combs available for home use), has been shown to improve the quality of existing hair, slow hair loss, and in some individuals, stimulate hair growth.

LLLT treatment has been deemed safe and it is completely painless. The patient sits beneath the stationary device and the laser delivers low-level energy to the scalp. Our current belief about these lasers is that they are safe and that they may benefit a number of patients.
