Question:

What are the risks or complications associated with a breast reduction?

Answer:

After a breast reduction surgery the most common complications are related to the scars which can become either thicker or wider and this happens in about 5% to 10% of patients.  Less common complications that come from a breast reduction are bleeding, delayed healing, inability to breast feed and loss of nipple sensation.  This is less common in all of these complications and risks should be discussed with the surgeon prior to surgery.
