Question:

I am 43 and will have my first breast augmentation consultation in the next month.  Where in my menstrual cycle should I ideally be to have the sizing done accurately?

Answer:

This is a very good question and you probably are the best person to answer this.
Some women have very minimal changes in the size of their breasts with their menstrual cycle; however, other women have dramatic changes.

A woman should become familiar with the changes that occur with her breasts during their menstrual cycle.  Most commonly during ovulation when progesterone is more dominant is when the breasts may become more painful.  However, the breasts become more engorged during the estrogen-dominant phase and this is probably during the first two weeks.

The best time to go to the doctor for this type of consultation is when you feel you are at your smallest.  However, it usually does not make a significant difference in the sizing of the implants unless your breast size changes dramatically during your menstrual cycle.
